Job Overview:

WeCreate depends on their art directors for the development of their visual offering, championing and selling creative work. The art director works on creative projects from inception to completion. Often working in partnership with a copywriter who produces the written content, the art director will seek to influence changes in audience behavior through ideas, creativity, and the use of media. They will ensure that through conceptualization to final delivery content is innovative, strategic and visually appealing. For large productions, they will partner with the producer in the coordination of pre-production prep, planning, scouting, and sourcing. Post-production work includes culling, editing, and managing sub-contractors and agency partners to ensure the proper implementation of brand standards in all assets.

At WeCreate, the art director is responsible for generating visual concepts in response to clients’ briefs. This includes: Productions, Creative Strategy, Media, Design and Copy. Media platforms include:

  • Digital Communications (websites, mobile apps, and emails)
  • Marketing Materials
  • Television and Video
    • Storyboarding
    • On-site photo & video shoot art direction
    • Ability to Travel
  • Logos and Brand Development
      The art director needs a wide range of design and creative capabilities. These should include:
          • The ability to create visual shot lists and storyboards for production needs
          • A flexible approach and willingness to adapt your ideas to the needs of clients
          • A passion for storytelling, advertising, and commercial art
          • A keen eye for visual details and accuracy
          • The resilience to deliver high-quality work on tight deadlines
          • An innovative approach to creative media execution
          • Design capabilities, including brand development and/or a range of print and digital collateral

          Production

          • Work with Head of Creative + Strategy Director to direct and manage the visual work of the Creative Team
          • Create visual shot lists and storyboards for production needs
          • Effectively lead and direct the creative produced by the production team, including photo, video, and editor subcontractors and/or agency partners.
          • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative content including visual and audio formats
          • Work with project manager and producer to schedule and monitor production projects, ensuring they stay within the budget and timeframe and execution meets creative vision and deliverables
          • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to direct the media assets used in advertising campaigns
          • Take complex concepts or campaigns and bring them to life simply, beautifully and on-brand with the assistance of the creative team and trusted partners.
          • Supervises production crews, equipment, and cast in the studio and on-location by determining the placement of models, crew members, lights, camera, props, and sets
          • Creates content with an exceptional range of creative, technical, and documentary imagery
          • Ensures all imagery and footage meets brand standards and high image quality.
          Creative Strategy

          • Work closely with the Head of Creative to develop and contribute to campaign strategy
          • Deliver creative, set-apart ideas and concepts to account managers/clients to exceed expectations of goals and objectives
          • Understand client business objectives based on creative briefs and proactively contribute strategic and creative ideas
          • Collaborate with the Creative Team to ensure that deliverables adhere to client guidelines and brand strategy

          Copy
          • Provide creative copy insight, direction, and options for campaign concepts
          • Collaborate with the strategy and copy team to tell a unique story based on the client’s needs and objectives to accomplish outlined goals
          • Direct copywriters to develop a client’s voice for consistent tone in copy

          Design
          • Ability to design in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop. Animate is a plus)
          • Create branded collateral based on established brand guidelines
          • Logo concept/development
          • Review/Revise design deliverables based on internal and/or client feedback
